Computer is derived from the Latin word ‘computare’ Which means ‘to calculate’ A Computer is an electronic machine that inputs data from the user through an input device Processes it and produces output in the desired form

Features of Computer

  1. Speed: The computer is a very high-speed electronic device. Computers can perform millions or billions of operations on the data within a second.
  2. Accuracy: A computer is a very accurate device. If the input data is incorrect, the resulting output will be incorrect, and if the input data is correct, then the output will be correct.
  3. Reliability: The modern computer has a very low failure rate. Computers can perform very complicated calculations without creating any problems.
  4. Diligence: A computer is called a diligent Machine because it can perform the task repeatedly without losing its speed and accuracy for a long time.
  5. Versatility: A computer is a versatile machine because it can be used for all sorts of tasks. They can also do many of the same tasks in different ways.
  6. Storage: A Computer has internal storage (Memory) and external or secondary storage. The stored data and programs are available at any time for processing.

Application Of Computer

  1. Education: All students use computer classrooms and labs to teach students. In Schools, Colleges, and universities students use software packages to complete their assignments.
  2. Entertainment: Computers have become the needed of humans for entertainment at home, like playing video games, watching videos, etc.
  3. E-commerce: E-commerce refers to a business model that allows companies and individuals to buy and sell goods and services over the Internet.
  4. Health Care: Every area of the medical field uses computers, such as laboratories, research, scanning, monitoring, Pharmacy, telemedicine, etc which help doctors diagnose diseases.
  5. Science: Computers are used in all branches of science Scientists also use the Internet to collect the latest information around the world. It is impossible to carry out scientific, research without the use of a computer.
